The Haitian Freedom Fighters who stood up against the 1915 U.S. Invation of Haiti were called Cacos and Bandits by the United States in order to justify why U.S. Marine Major Smedley Butler and his troops "hunted the Cacos like pigs" where the "Cacos were killed and no prisoners taken," something that "impressed Franklin D. Roosevelt (FDR)" so much that Major General Smedley Butler received a medal of honor for it.
